THE KAZIMIR EFFECT
‘The square is a vital, regal infant.’
— Kazimir Malevich
The Kazimir Effect is a series of sixteen, minimal poems, each one a kanji haiku, composed by juxtaposing two names for varied brands of ‘white’ sold by British Paints. Christian Bök has used these brands of house paint to create both collaged maquettes and abstract paintings, all modelled upon the artwork Suprematist Composition – White on White by Kazimir Malevich. Charles Justin (one of the wealthiest collectors of art in Melbourne) has acquired many of these artworks for his private reserve at the Justin Art House Museum (JAHM).
