JIGSAW PAINTINGS
‘Every move that the puzzler makes,
the puzzle-maker has made before.’
— Georges Perec
The Jigsaw Paintings constitute a series of diptychs made from the interfusion of artworks by classic, canonic painters. Christian Bök has, in each case, found a pair of jigsaw puzzles that depict masterpieces published by manufacturers who have used the same die cut for both pictures. He has then solved these two puzzles, interbraiding their elements into two new images that represent abstractions derived from the original artworks.
